Cost vs Happiness

I was accepted to Emory Oxford, but also accepted to my first choice college (W&M) which is offering me little financial aid. Emory Oxford would be a full ride--tuition would be covered for 4 years--and while Emory College was in my top 5 college picks, 2 years at Oxford and then back to Atlanta (where I've lived my entire life!) was just not what I expected the 4 happiest years of my life to consist of. I'm having a hard time weighing my options, so if anyone has been in this situation, please help!

Thank you

Is William and Mary affordable despite the fin. aid? Or is there are a huge concern? If not, just try to go to WM. Also, if you’re worried about being in Atlanta ruining your experience. It may help to try and live on campus (that way you become more attached/involved w/Emory itself). Remember that campuses like Emory are kind of like bubbles and offer their own cultural/political experience which is much less attached to Atlanta than say many of the more innercity publicUs like GSU or Tech. Surely you know this. Even though you may live in Atlanta and probably have visited Emory on several occasions, you may not know what it’s actually like to live here and to be fully integrated into campus life. Again the feel is much different from Tech and GSU (though Emory and Tech have similar demographics in a sense, except for the large Jewish pop. here) On the other hand WM will probably offer a much different experience (but similar academically) in terms of campus/cultural scene. Perhaps you desire theirs more.

How close are W&M and Emory in your thinking?

If W&M is way ahead, I’d go that way. If the two are close, the money could be a swing factor in favor of Emory.
