I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two as I love different things about both of them. I applied undecided, but I know I'm interested in Economics, International Relations, and English. I think William and Mary would be more liberal artsy which I prefer to Emory's pre-professionalism, but Emory has Atlanta which is more attractive to me than Williamsburg. Emory ranks higher and there's the rumor William and Mary is no fun which is troubling (education comes first, but I'd like to experience the "college life"). I live in northern Virginia so travel cost back home would be a lot cheaper if I go to William and Mary and the College is public so I have guaranteed in-state prices (though both financial aid packages are good, I'd only be paying a little more to go to Emory). Any advice?

Which do you like better? I think the rumor " William and Mary is no fun " is not true. There are many activities to participate in. Ranking does not matter much. However, Emory seems richer than William and Mary. Personally I would vote for William and Mary.

And I heard that Atlanta is unsafe. Williamsburg is a safer area.

Flip a coin. Both are good choices.

I have twins, one going to W & M the other was considering Emory. Both are great schools. William and Mary is a liberal arts college so classes will be smaller and taught by professors. Emory will have larger class sizes and may have some teaching by TA’s though usually not. You will probably get to know your professors better at WM. It depends on what type of education you want.

Cant lose either way. Two great schools. W&M is very fun in a creative non-conformist way. Its not Animal House but it is a great time. W&M is always rated as a “happiest student” school. That “no-fun” rumor is a jealous UVirginia myth.

More sports for school spirit at W&M.
