I've looked at a lot of different message Northeastern message boards - and can't find any with posts about the nursing major. Do people out there feel the cost isworth it when in my opinion no matter where you get a nursing degree from with the shortage you're pretty much guaranteed a job? Still waiting and really hoping for possible merit scholarship/financial aid - hopefully we'll get some money which may make the cost of NE worth it - SAT's 750 math, 550 reading, 650 writing (although I'm not sure they look at that score); 4.0 GPA on a 5.0 scale; admitted under EA - any opinions?

You should get some merit money with your scores.

I know a lot about this considering my mom has been a nurse for 20 years. My mom was accepted to NYU nursing, but went to CUNY Hunter in NYC b/c she figured her salary would be the same. It is. She also makes the same as her friend w/ a degree from Columbia. But nursing is rapidly becoming a popular profession b/c it's a less stressful alternative to going to med school. That's why recently a bachelor's degree has become mandatory when before it wasn't. So the field is becoming more competitive and the better the nursing program, the better off you are. I'm not sure how strong Northeastern's Nursing program is. If it's good, go for it. With a nursing salary you'll be able to pay off your debt anyway. If you work overtime you can make $100,000+
