Could applicants please offer critique?

Hi everyone,
I'm a high school junior with a 3.85UW/4.09W GPA...My extra curriculars are amazingly weak (I have no record of volunteering...the place I volunteer at doesn't keep track of hours) but I intern for a state environmental research facility. My SAT score is also weak (1900, but I'm taking it for the second time in May. I'm aiming for 2100+. Too weak?). I have my eye on quite a few colleges (listed below) and I was wondering if people who applied could help me out...What kind of responses did you guys get from these colleges? Are my stats even competitive? Should I consider other schools?

*Caltech - Computer Science
*MIT - Computer Science
UC Berkeley - Computer Science
UMich, Ann Arbor - Math
*Carnegie-Mellon University - Computer Science
*UChicago - Math
UCLA - Computer Science
UCSD - Chemistry
UCI - Computer Science
UCSB - Chemistry
*Reed - Chemistry
*Cornell - Computer Science
*Johns-Hopkins - Biochem
*Harvey Mudd - Joint Major in Computer Science and Mathematics

Any response is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. :)

repost it in 'what are my chances'

.. but no, you'll definately get into one of those schools

You'll get into some of those, but your list is a little reach-heavy...maybe find some more solid matches/safeties?

Harvey Mudd has a reputation for taking risks on students with lower GPA/SATs (compared to their average applicant, of course..."low" is a relative term), but who have demonstrated exceptional skill in and dedication to relevant fields. It's not the norm, but it happens.

Your interests are clear from your predicted majors. I suggest finding some strong ECs to showcase your skills and passions. Doing so could in some cases (and to varying degrees) make up for lower scores (your SATs are strong, but still low for many of the schools on your list).

Also, I assume you're in-state for UCs (based on how many are on your list)? If so, a few of those should be safe bets for you.

Best of luck :)

Well, there are some schools you will probably enter, but some of the others are pretty hard. I suggest you get some volunteer work in to help you, and aim a little higher for the SAT.
