I am a White Male from Haledon, New Jersey. I would also like to point out that I have well over 350 hours community service.

Thanks for the Info, I noticed that for the Presidential Scholarship I need higher than a 2250 SAT an A Grade Point Average so it looks like I’m in Good shape and have a whole year to strengthen that 2270. I also have a question, is only one Presidential Scholarship awarded each year or is it awarded to multiple candidates.

steveojak…Just something to think about since you mentioned $$ being a factor. Based on your outstanding academic stats to date (Congratulations!!) you may well be in position for National Merit (NM)consideration as you enter your senior year. If I remember correctly, most juniors take the PSAT in the spring, and based on your existing SAT scores you should exceed the New Jersey cutoff (I believe it was 221 this past year?) if your scores are fairly consistent. If so, NM standing will open up several outstanding automatic scholarship opportunities for you including a full-ride to the University of Alabama and a near full-ride to Auburn University. There are several threads in CC discussing additional opportunities for NMSF’s and NMF’s that you may find worthwhile. Keep up the great work and Good Luck wherever you end up attending!!

I think with your credentials, you have a great shot! I’m sure they also consider extracurriculars and essays (at least they did last year), otherwise there would be no real way to differentiate all the qualified people. They started notifying today.
Good luck!
