Could I get Into any of these schools?

The schools I’m looking at are Tufts (top choice), Reed College, Skidmore, Providence College, Lewis & Clark, and Princeton (as a hail Mary)

  • 4.02 weighted GPA
  • 2 honors classes (we don’t have APs)
  • 31 on ACT, 11 on writing
  • 4 years varsity girls soccer
  • 2 years of publications (student art collective)
  • published author in award winning school magazine
  • 3 years volunteer with a nonprofit for underprivileged children in Los Angeles (United in Harmony)
  • 2 years of running my school club of said organization^
  • 4 years of creative writing
    -2 years of ceramics
-5 years of Spanish (Spanish literature level)

Anything would help!!

PC and Skidmore seem like good safeties. Reed and Lewis & Clark are matches, although I’d say L&C is more of a safety too for you. Tufts and Princeton are reaches (esp. Princeton, obviously). I’d try to get that ACT up a bit (to like a 33-34) and Tufts should be good for you, although its still uncertain at that point since their acceptance rate is still very low, so it’s a bit of a crapshoot at that point too.

Our salutatorian, with a 34 ACT and GPA probably similar to yours got rejected from Tufts. But our valedictorian went to Tufts with a 2350 old SAT (idk GPA.) It gets random starting from the point where you become competitive.

I myself was rejected with (if I recall) probably the exact same weighted GPA and ACT score (31C with a 35 on the new writing–btw, did you take the ACT before September 2015? If so, I’d familiarize myself with the new writing section.) What’s your unweighted?

Spanish experience is excellent. The volunteering experience is unique, I would try to incorporate that in one of Tufts’ “quirky” supplements if you can. I’m not seeing a common theme though, as this seems more like a laundry list of a bunch of things. What do you want to study? I can suggest more matches.

Depends if you need financial aid. My daughter had 1450 SAT, 8 Ap’s, 5 of the 6 toughest Ap’s. 4.25 weighted GPA plus impressive ec and got waitlisted at Skidmore. We learned needing financial aid mattered a LOT more than the schools lead us to believe, especially Skidmore.

Thanks so much! I’m thinking of studying psychology/sociology or child development as of now. I wonder If that changes anything.
