Could I get into NYU? And internship help?

<p>Hi everyone!
Not to sound pretentious, but I am a wonderful student at my very competitive high school (ranked in the top 50 public high schools in the country). I am currently Junior Class President, am planning to run for student body president, and I have a passion for arts.
I have a VERY strong photography portfolio and I believe it will strongly help with my application......except that my GPA is failing me.
I have about a 3.3 GPA and I did really badly in APUSH this past semester--my only AP class. However, on my PSAT, I got a 1900, and with preparation I believe I can score a 2000-2150.
I believe that I am a strong-minded student with potential to get into NYU, as it is my dream school, and I want to major in either law or arts (but I don't really know yet.)</p>

<p>Do you guys think I have a chance at getting into NYU? I know they have a strong emphasis on art and writing, both of which are my strong suits.</p>

<p>Additionally, what internships would you recommend to help boost my application? I luckily live in an area where internships are widely available, I just don't know where to look.</p>

<p>NYU Tisch holds more weight to the portfolio.</p>

<p>ArtsyGirl13: I entered dozens of contests (50ish) this year and I believe I have a fair chance at winning at least half! They are all good contests too. I’m still entering more!</p>
