Could I lose my admission to Brown?

I am posting this for somebody I know.

I was recently accepted to Brown University. I read that they can rescind my admission if I do not keep my grades up. I had all A’s last semester (5 AP/IB) and this semester I think I might have 4 As and 2 B+'s. Is that OK? The 2 B+'s are in AP European History and AP Calculus BC.

Colleges can and do rescind acceptances for students whose academic performances drop significantly after admission. The extent to which the grades must fall varies from school to school and depends on the individual’s circumstances, but rescinding acceptances is generally quite rare: the change you describe will not result in recision.

^ I don’t think recision is a word! :)

Try ‘rescission.’

vij: I know it’s nerves that’s driving you to post this but you should apply some of your A- level analytical thinking and apply it to your situation. What was your GPA before this semester? 3.9 or so? Getting 2 B+s – means you might have a 3.88 overall? Do you think this is a precipitous drop? Really? What does your evaluation of the scenario tell you?

Don’t worry about it, you will be fine. My friend went from a 4.2 to a 3.2 during her last months in high school (she stopped caring lol) and she was still able to go. As long as you don’t fail any classes or you are still able to get your degree, you should be fine.

Wait , not degree, diploma.
