I'm a senior in high school and just finished sending in all of my college apps. One component that all of my schools require is a mid-year (7th semester) school report.

My school's first semester ends next monday, which means we only have a few days to finalize our grades. Right now, I'm doing fairly well...except for in AP Calculus. My grade right now is sitting on a D.

My GPA is a 3.6uw, so a D will be a blaring addition to my transcript, and I'm afraid it will cause some of my schools to rescind their offers of admission or simply change their minds about me. Do you think most colleges will let it slide, or am I right to say that I'm doomed??

All of my schools are first tier liberal arts colleges (Richmond, Franklin and Marshall, U Puget Sound, Whitman, etc.), so they're fairly competitive (most have acceptance rates around 30%). Do you think they'll look at my mid-year report, assume I decided to slack off this year and reject me? Or do you think they might be understanding? It's not that I've been lazy this year; it's just been an extremely difficult course for me, one that I got behind in after traveling and missing school for family matters. I've tried very hard to improve my grade, but tests are 80% of our grade with no option to retake, and I haven't done too well on them.

Help! Anyone know from personal experience or be able to give thoughts? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks
