Yeah misterpop92, that’s really weird.

Does anyone know if getting a spring admit automatically puts you on fall admit wait list?
Does anyone know it is possible to defer admissions 'till the following fall and go in as class of '15?

Also, does anyone know when we have to declare that we’re coming to UMD spring semester? Could I go to another 4 year college, see if I liked it, and then if I wanted to do so just transfer to UMD spring semester because I’m already accepted or just stay at the other college if I liked it well enough?

Sort of confusing, but it sounds like an option depending on when we have to accept or reject the UMD admission decision.

I answered my own question - no later than November 15th. I think.'

Students admitted as freshmen for the spring semester should submit their confirmation as soon as possible, and no later than November 15. Students admitted as transfers should submit their enrollment within a month after the date on their admission letter.

Does that mean if you’re transferring let them know by December 15th?

Interesting. Would you have to tell the other 4 year college you go to that you will be transferring?

I’m really annoyed. Quite a few people with lower stats than me irl and on this forum got in fall and even scholars.

I kind of agree I would much rather be straight up rejected or accepted. I keep complaining about it and everyone’s like “you got in!” >.<

But yes, it is possible to be moved up to fall. This happened to a couple of my friends in years past.

Gahhh. Let’s commiserate. I don’t know anyone who got spring from my school.

I don’t think that going in you’d have to tell the original 4 year college that you’re transferring. Just make sure the credits will transfer and I think this’ll be ok. I know someone who got accepted spring semester and took a semester at our community college and is in UMD now, I’d sort of treat it like that except that I’d be at a traditional college (either Towson or Salisbury) for a semester (unless I loved my temporary college).

Yeah. I’ve told like 5 people and all of them get all happy for me when honestly I couldn’t feel further from happy. This is turning out to be quite a headache. Literally.

So are they just using it as an enhanced wait list of some kind. I am so confused.

Compared to most of the people on here, I had relatively low stats and I got into this Spring-thing. I’m not sure what to make of it. My initial reaction was that I would end up being a bum for a semester or attend the community college nearby, but this Freshman Connection program is really rather confusing.

I also think it’s very annoying that we have to take the class required of us. It reminds me of this class I had to take when I first entered high school called Freshman Seminar, which covers the same material in the UMD-version…and then I had to take the class I was SUPPOSED to take (Health) last year and I had to drop an AP course for it.

I guess I just feel like they said, “We liked your application, but you’re not good enough to get accepted for the fall.”

I’ll still probably do the program, though. I have to be a full-time student to be covered on my parents’ insurance…>.<"

I think the Univ 100/101 class is required of all admitted freshmen, not just spring.

But still, it’s exactly like the class I had to take when I started high school. >.<" Where I had to learn about study habits and good decisions…I dunno, I think it’s kind of a waste of time. But maybe the college one will be better?

I doubt it will be better. These classes are always boring and useless. JMO.

If they just made an effort with housing I’d do the freshman connection program in a millisecond. I’m not living at home though and commuting, I’m SLIGHTLY too far away. I also can’t pay $900/month for an apartment.

They should just defer us. Or deny us. Or, better yet, accept us. Essentially, they should act like every other college in America. Oh well. Guess we all have to just make do with what happened and make the best of it.

^^ EXACTLY. plus rushhour traffic towards dc is the worst.
except I still don’t want to do it, at all.

I literally have an headache too…

Hm, do you guys think it would be okay to call them and ask why I got spring? Would they give me answer? I kind of want to know so I can prepare myself for my other schools.

I think their problem IS housing. They guarantee freshman housing, right? So they want us to come but they have no where to house us. Are apartments in College Park very expensive? Even with roommates?

I’ve been doing research all day, I don’t have a car so it’d have to be within walking distance. I’ve seen anywhere between like $600 per month to like $2000. They average around $1000.

I couldn’t convince this girl I know who got in to let me sleep on her floor. So if my idea of sleeping in a dumpster doesn’t work out I’m not sure what I’ll do.

^^ The View which is right next to campus is $900/month. um, yeah. redic.

but there are cheaper options, you just have to look a bit… more like $500/month.

OK, how about roommates? You would have had to share in the dorms anyway. If you get a roommate it’s only $450.

I’ve got an idea. Suppose we all band together and form the University of Maryland Camping Club and have tents set up on some obscure corner of campus! They think we’re a legitimate club, but we’re actually permanently living there. Then we all get dorms spring semester and disband the camping club. Foolproof!

If you have a car there’s some pretty cheap stuff housing out there, just not within walking distance.

The View is like $900 per person, it’s not a $900 flat rate for the room. You get between 2 to 4 roommates already I think. Not positive, but pretty sure.

LOL CaptHammer. I’d join you, but I haven’t decided what I’m doing yet. I have other choices.

ETA: I just saw your apt. post. That sucks.
