I'm starting college this fall and here is what i'm taking. could someone please tell me whether it is too much or is it about avg? my advisor didn't say anything, she just signed me up for them...

Bio
Bio Lab
Chem
Chem Lab
Calc I
Spanish
Odyssey (freshmen class!)

HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks

What are the days and times?

Otherwise it looks to be ok.

I had a similar schedule but instead of bio it was cell bio and instead of chem it was o-chem. But mine was english instead of spanish... haha. I think it is a doable schedule but in my opinion it'll be time consuming.

(i'm an entering freshman also, so take my advice with a grain of salt)
but... my only comment is that two labs in one semester might be tough, especially since it is your first semester and you don't know quite what to expect. if you can, i would switch out either bio or chem to take 2nd semester. other than that, looks good.

This sounds about right if you are, say, pre-med or pre-vet or pre-dental - what are you planning?

I agree with Midwestmom, if you are not pre-professional, I'd lighten up the schedule.. if you are... well prepare for more hell to come because it will onyl get worse :D (but also more fun)

this is pre-pharm....
MWF - bio, calc, spanish, chem (8 - 12)
M - bio lab 2-5
Tuesday - chem and calc lecture thingy (im not sure, it is an addition to the lecture)
Thur - chem lab (9-11)
friday - odyssey (1 - 3)

Thanks for all the responses! @helloworld, yeah my friends have been telling me take just one lab too.

5 Classes seems about right. Don't go over that. My advisors made sure that I didn't take that extra Anthropology class I wanted.

How good are you at science and labs? Can you afford to drop one science and take something else that fulfills a distribution requirement, or do you need both now because of prerequisites and other requirements for your major? (Can you take an easier load this semester and take a summer course so that you'd be where you ought to be by the start of your sophomore year?)

Some people could handle that very easily. Other people would be lost. In general, it's a good idea to start out by taking a bunch of very different classes so that whatever your weaknesses are, you're only dealing with each one in a single class. But for some majors that isn't really an option.

And the "lecture thingy" is probably discussion section, where you meet in smaller groups than in the main lecture and have a TA go over things with you. In calculus at least, I would expect you to be doing a lot of practice problems.

you have 3 easy 1st year science classes and 2 other joke classes. I think that you'll be ok.

Depending on your school and professor, Calc and Spanish will have significant out of the classroom assignments (tons of homework, language lab, projects). You could be looking at having the equivalent of 4 lab classes! That would not be good at all! Check ratemyprofessor for the expected workload before you commit to this schedule.

It's never really possible to answer questions like this, because it depends entirely on your abilities, your background, your study and work habits, your other commitments, your teachers, and your school.

That said, it seems fine to me.

i took 3 lab courses my first semester. 2 is fine.
