My English teacher loved my essays for PLME and CA.

Now, could you guess my chance.

BTW, I am a Questbridge Applicant.
And is’nt it odd that a nationally recognized school doesn’t have any support in math/science activity??

Your stats + Questbridge will get you good results. Even if you don’t match with Brown. Good luck

Hmm idk seems like you have a fair shot. Go for it!

don’t get your hopes up. In your essay i recommend writing about how beautiful you think Massachusetts is, that could help.

(above)

Whaaaaaat?

CLassy2014 that makes no sense/

Classy2014 is almost certainly a ■■■■■ with only one post so far. Seeing that Brown is in Rhode Island, the Massachusetts reference must be a vague attempt at humor.

What a great effort LOL.

Paul, you certainly have a strong enough record to make the preliminary cut and be taken seriously. Brown really likes solid Questbridge applicants (they took my son). And being a recent immigrant who’s done well will make you interesting.

But your accomplishments and test scores are pretty much average for Brown applicants. And there are undoubtedly quite a few other recent immigrants in the applicant pool, so that alone won’t make you unique – maybe if you lived in a refugee camp for a few years or dodged sniper bullets to go to school in your war-torn homeland.

So I think you will have the committee’s attention, but you will also need to encapsulate your personal story into a bow-tied package that organizes your achievements into a systematic theme/vision/plan which your regional advocate can summarize and present in a few sentences over 15 seconds. If you can make yourself come alive as a highly-motivated and self-driven individual in your essays, you could have a strong shot.

Good luck!

LorenIpsum, Thanks.

My essay explains a lot about me and what I have done, and my essay supplements are good, too( in the eyes of English teachers I can trust).

Scores aren’t that great enough to distinguish me,which I am strongly aware of. Wish I could take more test but cost is a significant matter!

I am not worried about accomplishments though, In suburban area I live in, having math/science contest and actually winning is very rare-which I briefly mentioned in my essay, and those are all I could do so far. there was some limit; for exmaple, I couldn’t take National Chem exam(its for citizens and permanent residents)

What does your son major in Brown? It would be nice if I could talk to him :-)

And Classy2014, writing about the beauty of MA may be one of the most boring essay.

Paul, my son is majoring in applied math/computer science (one degree) and is considering a second degree in physics if he can fit it in. He currently does website development for small businesses in his spare time and hopes to design and sell his own iPhone games after graduation. The math and physics is very useful in game design and other virtual simulations.

You can PM me with specific questions for him.
