Counsellor recommendation letter.

I wanted to ask that if my counsellor has written a very generic counsellor recommendation. My counsellor recommendation letter does not portray me according to my full capacity , but i think my teacher recommendation letters and college essay are quite strong. Will these compensate for that counsellor recommendation letter and how much will it affect my application?

You are fine. College admission officers understand that many guidance counselors are overwhelmed/understaffed and either don’t have much personal contact with their students and/or enough time to write highly personalized recommendations. As long as your teacher LORs are strong a generic guidance counselor LOR should not be a problem.

I would be willing to guess that most counselor recommendation letters would be similar. Unless there is some exceptional circumstance that the student was counseled on for them to build a relationship, is more difficult. Ideally your teachers see you more often and know you better because of this. No need to worry.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
