So I was looking at the Common App form that counselors have to fill out regarding course difficulty and such. There's a section that asks if the school limits the number of APs a student can take, and the problem is, technically, our school doesn't limit them, and that's probably how our counselor will fill it out. However, our school only offers 6 periods with AP science taking up 2 periods. Also, we have a large number of AP students, but not enough classes so oftentimes they will cut you out with the excuse of seniority, a random disqualification (often inconsistent), schedule conflicts, or just randomly. I see a lot of people from other schools with 4-5 APs junior and senior year, while we're stuck with only 2-3. So if colleges see that we're technically not limited to AP courses, will having less courses hurt your application?

Could you go to your counselor and mention that you’re concerned about it and ask him/her nicely to write a sentence explaining that?

Yes, definitely ask your counselor to explain the situation. Colleges will understand.
