It depends what your counsellor's reputation is - if any - with Harvard. They make it a point, as often as possible, to know the counsellors so as to put their recommendations in context.

For example, if a counsellor says "this the best student our school has had in 20 years" is he speaking the truth, or does he write that every year for somebody?

BUT what if you go to some unknown school? Seriously ...how could Harvard know some unknown school in Florida.....? No one has ever applied from my school to Harvard before............ Can the limited resources of a school and a schools avg SAT of 989 and ACT of 21 really ofset lower scores on the applicants part. I am so screwed and I have a 1220 and my ACT is not much better (though the practices were...?) but this is in the 99th percentile in my school. Will they really overlook these scores and look at my awesome grades and courses????

Marginal for my school? Not marginal for Harvard right...i think it'd be TRASH for Harvard. What if my SATIIs are all around mid 700s so I don't know because that is actual content while SAT is ...........whatever:(

sorry APFreak but what's with the CAPS?! IVE SEEN SOME OF YOUR POSTS AND YOU JUST LOVE TO ACCENTUATE. IT'S FUNNY.whenever i see someone who capitalizes alot i get this picture of a strung out coke addict...lol...just wondering.

i didnt mean it as an insult...just thought it was funny. Hey I was looking at your other posts, and im the first applying to harvard from my school too. sucks doesn't it? my counselor doesn't know how to write a good recommendation for the life of him.ahhhh

Maybe you should talk to your counselor. I get a new counselor each year and am the first to apply to an ivy league school from my high school. After talking with my couselor she got in touch with Harvard
