Counselor's Position? Describing Academic Honors? HELP!!!

On the Common App, what does the question mean that asks for your counselor's position? Isn't 'counselor' her position?

Also, in the academic honors section, do you have to describe school awards (like a Principal's Award or an art award) or just mention them? I'm asking this because I'm at the character limit and am not sure if explanations are needed.

Thanks.

???????????????????????

I believe theres many different types of counselors. For example, I wrote "Magnet counselor".

As for the academic awards, I just simply wrote a paragraph describing which honors I have won.

Is Guidance Counselor a position title?

At some schools the counselor may have another role - vice principal, teacher, etc. in addition to the task of counseling.

I'd add an explanation for those the unusual, or not evident. You can also use the additional info section if you need to go into additional detail. For example
"The Peabody Award is given to 2 students in the state for their excellence in time travel. Each school nominates a student, and students are judged by rocket scientists on how far in the past the machine goes. My machine traveled to the time of T. Rex, and I got an additional award for remembering to bring bug spray to ward off the bird sized mosquitoes."

(Ok, not an actual example.)

Thanks for the replies. So, do many schools have a 'principal's award' for a 4.0, ie is it a common, known award, or this just my school?
