Countdown to Acceptance Letters

freshie123, I've been getting the yips quite alot this week! hopefully they will go away... kinda scared and hesitant of bs life now, but still wanna go really bad!
(aren't I being a little paranoid? :))

I know! I officially love Andover even more than I did before (if that's possible) for their beautiful deadline. I'm working on my Exeter essays right now, I'm having a creative explosion :-)

And freshie123, I like the idea of being around so many talented people :-) maybe I would absorb some of their amazingness!!!

I am looking so much forward to this. I mean, the dread of not being good enough sticks to me a little, and obviously I think we're all having those doubts (even the "volunteered for years in China teaching english to deaf, blind, and poor children" and the "perfect SSAT, SAT, and ACT scores" kids).
But we're all amazing anyway, in our own ways, and a little confidence never hurt. ;)

anyone know how many days now?

I defintley need to start running again..................burn off some anxiety

i'm so nervous!!! i'm a pessimist so i can practically imagine myself surrounded w/ rejections...[sighs] i can't wait to get this over w/...

I'm just excited to find out! Whether its an acceptence or a rejection, I find myself not even caring I just wanna know! Well, actually, that's a lie, I definitely hope its not a rejection but I've tried not to make too big of a deal to myself because I don't want it to be ulttttra-tough if I don't get in and have already pre-planned my life at boarding school.
Still. I'm excited. I want so badly to read it and it be like "Dear _______ We are pleased to inform you" and then you knoww without reading further and its like a year of dread gone.

is anyone feeling inadequate these days, seeing brilliant + smart+ super athletic+ perfect applicants?i kinda am.. grr have to get this feeling away. anyone feeling kinda intimidated w/ competition? grrrrr... how to get this feeling away! everyone who is kinda feeling the same, go go go! (i dnno an encouragement that woudl fit here..

We all feel inadequate, no matter how amazing we really are. Otherwise, we'd all be total braggarts!
Everybody's got something going for them, let's all hope these boarding schools recognize that!

5 days until Choate apps are due!

10 days until Exeter apps!

27 days until Andover apps!

62 days until acceptance letters! (March 10th!)

I'M GETTING ANXIOUS.
Haha Saer without this board my sense of timing would probably be totally off, according to my application deadlines

so thank you (:

Haha, me too, just yesterday I thought I had WEEKS instead of 4 days. Aaaargh.

Oh, and we have an official award-
Earliest Countdown Ever!

Yay Saer!

I love saying that.

almost 61 days.................................and almost February....which is close to March.

Yikes, I'm so excited! It's been a good day. My guidance counselor has finished everything but NMH, but that's not due for a while anyway. She has my grades from 6th grade on, my attendance, my standardized tests, and my official transcript. My other two teachers are practically done, if not mailed out! (I hope schools don't mind that they photocopied another school's common application, they are more clueless than I am.)
My essays to Chaote are mailed, my parent statement mailed, my applicant info mailed, my mom's PFS done and submitted, my dad's PFS done and to be submitted tomorrow, and my dad will mail the highlight video tomorrow, too.

YAY!

what's a highlight video, Saer?

A 3+ minute video of me playing volleyball with my team- we were league champions this year, and I was primary setter. It's my top EC, along with oboe and art.

Wow - sounds neat. My S hates cameras in any form. It's hard for us to pick a good picture of him. He gets too self concious in front of the camera. Do you look cool in that video?

Haha, I look dorky and athletic and goofy and focused. My dad got a lot of footage, and he picked the shining moments- whether it was of my set or serve or a friends amazing dig and my assist. A big tip for videos is the schools don't want to see just you- they want to see you on the court, interacting with your teammates. My dad even has a clip of us in a big team huddle, and then saying "Team!" and laughing and I'm smiling so huge. We look happy, and that's what schools want- a happy kid :)

I'm big into volleyball too, Saer, but Andover is the only school I'm applying to that has a boys' team. It's rather tragic. Does Choate have a boys' team?

Choate has boys' teams for varsity and JV, in the spring. Google is your friend.
As a side note, there are 62 days left until March 10.
