Countdown to Acceptance Letters

DiveAlive, I agree, how is the principal going to fill out a good rec. when he/she barely knows us???

Well, I agree, red hair is just an eye grabber! Everyone dye your hair red, be a ginger, EMBRACE your non-existant Irish genes! haha

Well, as for recs, it was pretty simple for me. I have been coached/taught by my math teacher for two years (this is my third with her as a volleyball coach, second as a math teacher) and she knows me so well. So I just told her I was applying to schools, and she took the forms and went through them. I don't think she's finished them yet, yikes.
My English teacher and I have only known eachother for about a year, but we like each other and she's really really nice. I explained I was applying, gave her the forms, and she returned them ALL to me about a week before break. Now I have to give them back so she can mail them directly, haha, but NO I haven't looked! The envelopes are signed and sealed anyway.
The guidance counselor and I know eachother really really well too. I spent about an hour with her during was a routine 10-minute college planning session ("Do you want to go to college?" "Yes" "Okay, goodbye" haha) and so she understood the application process and such.

For those who don't know your teachers that well, just explain to them as much as you need to about the whole application process. Tell them why the recs are important, and ask them to come to you with any questions. If they don't know you and can't exactly write stuff about you, tell them to ask your other teachers who know you better for an opinion. I think that would work?

@ latin55555: exactly! i'm going to high school next year & i'm also applying next year, so i'll know my principal for like, 4 months. in a school of 1400, it's sort of hard to get to know them well in 4 months, right? /:
perhaps we're allowed to ask previous principals (i know 1 really well) ? argh, another thing to worry about :P

edit:
thanks Saer, but what about our principal? the tip on teachers is helpful, thanks. :)
can our principal be replaced by our guidance counselor (who i haven't met yet btw) ? or are they another recommendation altogether?

Yes, actually, the guidance counselor can fill out the form!
The School Report for Exeter says:
Please print your name, address and school below and give this form and a stamped, addressed envelope for each school to your head of school, principal, or guidance counselor.
notice they used OR. This is the case for each of the schools I am applying to, so that's who got my school report. :)

OMIGOSH, THANKS SO MUCH!

you have no idea how helpful that is. i actually have alotted time with the counselor, while with the principal i can only talk to him in the halls or something..
haha, props to you for being well-informed and helping people like me who are virtually clueless. teehee.

Haha no problem!! I kind started the process in August... And since my school is ridiculously easy to get 100s (3 100s on my report card FTW!) I spent the majority of my time doing BS stuff... Except, you know, the actual WORK.

:)

11 days until Choate apps are due!

16 days until Exeter apps!

31 days until Andover apps!

Let the New Year bring acceptance letters to all and full FA to any who need it!

I've made a facebook page! Either add me (PM me here on CC for my name, etc.) or search CC Prep Admissions Addicts on facebook!

HEY! Someone get on heeere, we are so empty!

what i said about admission officers reading first come first serve is only a rumor.
as most other ones, i really don't know if that is true at all, or for some schools, or for all schools.

oh saer, i requested for the cc group on facebook

Same here saer my name's stephanie (yeah...)

i cannot believe it's 2009 much less that we have a little over a week until choate apps are due

I am SPAZZING. Don't remind me!! :P

7 days until Choate apps are due!

64 days until acceptance letters! (March 10th!)

Haha, if indeed acceptance letters arrive...

I hope that on March 10 we'll all have some major congratulatory posting to do, at this moment I can't think of anything I want more

ahh, i hope i don't get the yips. meaning having second thoughts about going to bs. the thought of having no social life and jst studying all day. the tht of those expensive education bills. the tht of all those talented kids next to you. AH

those thts will prob go away when i receive those acceptances though LOL

IT'S SUCH A RELIEF WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR APPLICATIONS.
I've only completely finished my Choate app.
but still, that's a load off my back.
and I'm nearly done with my SPS one.
I've barely physically written anything for my exeter one though, so that worries me :S
as well as andover. Thank god for their later deadline (:

freshie123, I've been getting the yips quite alot this week! hopefully they will go away... kinda scared and hesitant of bs life now, but still wanna go really bad!
(aren't I being a little paranoid? :))

I know! I officially love Andover even more than I did before (if that's possible) for their beautiful deadline. I'm working on my Exeter essays right now, I'm having a creative explosion :-)

And freshie123, I like the idea of being around so many talented people :-) maybe I would absorb some of their amazingness!!!
