That's alright, I got what you meant. :D
I'm definitely gonna talk to my mom about that, and then we can knock out two birds with one trip- a school on Friday morning, a school on Friday afternoon, and a school on Saturday, and it would be all done in one weekend!
Thanks for the tip. I need to start scheduling soon, but my mom's a bit apprehensive at this point. I don't know why. :P

I hope that you can convince your Mom that you should be applying to more than three or four schools, especially if you need financial aid. You can also get the application fees waived in some cases.

If you apply to four schools, each with a 25% acceptance rate, that does NOT guarantee you an acceptance.

Also, it IS possible to apply to schools without visiting. You can have a phone interview, or interview with an alum. who lives in your area. I certainly think it is BEST to visit and interview on campus if you can, but it IS possible to apply without having visited a school.

My mom doesn't want me to go... In a sense. She wants me to have this opportunity, but thinks that I can find happiness and success here in public school, along with having my family with me and her guidance. I think she's being a bit selfish (when I'm feeling mean) but I understand her apprehension of letting me go, as she IS my mother. With no guarantee of getting in, she feels better about even letting me apply.

hahahah uh ohh
is this thread gonna be as incredibly long as the packing list thread? ;]

At every parent interview, they will ask the parent(s) how they feel about their child going to boarding school. Make sure your mother is comfortable answering this question before you go on interviews.

Uh oh. Haha, my mom understands it's an amazing opportunity and that if I get accepted she's gonna send me (I hope?)... But this makes it difficult. Thanks for the tip!

It's the "my mom doesn't want me to go...in a sense" that Burb Parent is getting at. With all due respect you are looking at some of the most competitive boarding schools in the country. There are many applicants applying to these schools that have credentials similar to yours. If your parents are not committed to you going away to boarding school it will be a detriment to your application.

The first acceptance letter I got came in the 7th. I know, it was way awesome.
The last acceptance letter came in...ummm....I think the 14th.

Wow, I think you guys have the earliest March 10th Thread in CC History!!!!
I checked one of my schools online in class. I got waitlisted. I felt so cold and I was quiet the rest of the day. So my advice is...so you guys not end up breaking down in class check at home. I wish you the best.

Thanks!
Haha i was intruding on the Countdown to Choate thread and they said... Go away and start your own..

Haha the internet countdown-thingy says its 217 days! But my own counting says 222! (And I wrote down the number going from 1 on March 10th to 22 on today, so I'm pretty sure I'm correct.)

Hahahaha
Really?
Bball did that! lol

Hahahaha, Idk maybe you are.

The internet has liiiieeeed. I also have countdowns to first day of school and to my volleyball camp, which is wednesday... So Tomorrow looks like this:
Tuesday
1 PACK!

223 30

rawr keep yourself occupied. i took two SAT practice tests today and my score average was like 2000 (as in, i took the higher side of the "test range" thing so it looks way better) woot :D
it isn't the best score, but i NEVER studied for the SAT. i never studied for the SSAT. so this was fun :) at least the results were ok. i was aiming for 2100 x)

cell phone countdowns? im pretty sure the US ones have schedulers and d-day stuff now, don't they? besides, they're more accurate than the stupid internet XD

who just really wants the applications to come flooding in right about now?

I want them NOW.
As in, this second with no work on my part.
I think schools should just automatically KNOW which kids are right for them, and who's interested. Like mind reading.

I wish my applications would be here NOW, too.
But I think I might get them later D: since I'm in China and it takes awhile to mail stuff over.
:(

That really stinks. But you're probably wicked smart AND your a minority, so you have a good chance, correct?

Hahaha, I doubt being Chinese is really considered a 'minority'...I would assume that Asian applicants are actually VERY common, compared to other ethnicities. Plus, I was born in America and lived there for a long time, so I don't have much to offer culture-wise than the three years I've been here...
Well I guess I'm smart ;p Not compared some people on CC (from what I've been reading), though, but I suppose I have my...redeeming qualities =D

Gawd the CC has super geniuses. Don't pay attention to them.
Seriously, if you're above average intelligence, have some extracurriculars that you're dedicated to, and you're enthusiastic when you talk/interview/visit, then you have a good chance.

intrigue, it's ok. i'm an ORM in an ORM country and my school is full of ORMs, in which usually 10% of the 8th grade applies for boarding school
i haven't like stalked any of your posts but im guessing you go to an int'l school? (don't reply to this obviously, at least on a forum LOL) sas? ibs etc?

im not sure if there was some standard procedure that filtered all the smart people onto this place excluding me or everybody's a robot working to find out my true identity :3

Haha, yes there are some crazy geniuses that go on this site.

westcoast, yea, I go to an international school in Beijing. And don't worry, there are at least 9 different international schools around here, haha.

And I know what you mean about the standard procedure thing, and I definitely think they're all robots D:

I think that smart, dedicated people find this website easier than... uh, dumb people. Not that you're dumb westcoast, obviously!! But the majority of the people on this website (say, 90%) are above average intelligence. But, in the real world, lets say only 60-70% are above average, and only 60-70% of people getting admitted are above average.
Random, but I'm just saying that while it SEEMS like everyone on here is a super genius and that only super genuises have a chance at boarding school, that's not the case.
