UCSD has a fantastic academic program, second to none in the fields you’re applying to, but the campus really is a bit drab… There’s not much to do unless you know the right people and where to go, and it just didn’t fit with me.

But you do love the campus, and it’s the personal fit that really counts. Don’t count it out too soon.

For me, personally (I’m making the same decision), UCB was amazing but the housing was terrible, IMO, and too far from campus… One side of the campus, though, was beautiful, and academically it’s on par or better in the fields I’m interested in with both of the others.

UCLA just clicked, though, and the atmosphere was great. Food is wonderful, over both the other schools, housing is better than UCB, campus is lively and Westwood beats Berkeley and La Jolla any day. I sent in my SIR a week ago. :]

UCSD was great for poli sci, my major, but aside from that the campus just didn’t fit, along with what I’ve listed above. I felt the residential college system actually isolated me from other students, which was the finisher.
