Countdown to RD Decisions (Class of 2018)

I’ve got a brilliant idea of what to do. Because I have a say 1.5 hours till “proposed” decision time, I will just watch a movie that is exactly 1.5 hours long and then see what happens.

Did Rice alert everyone when decisions will be released last year? Or is it like Northwestern and WashU where they just release it without notice?

@readmypost
They released it without warning. No preliminary email or any kind of warning as per last year’s thread. It was straight email decision or you checked Esther around 6pm EST… So maybe some hope for today?

@matrixsurgeon
They’re told to say that.

@readmypost
They always use April 1st as the official date, but have always released them before!

I think they send you an email like Northwestern.
Make sure to check your Spam email after 5CNT.
I am still waiting for WUSTL email they never send one to us…

I just received an email and all I could see was “Office of Admissions” so I had a minor mental freakout until I opened it and saw it was from the University of Virginia instead of Rice. I mean, I logically knew it wasn’t even 6pm yet, but I can hope. Every minute seems to stretch longer and longer, and decisions might not even come out today! Glad I’m not the only one stressing out.

"For questions concerning need-based aid or ESTHER access, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at fina@rice.edu or 713-348-4958.

Please note your admission decision will not be released in ESTHER, it will be released on your Rice Admission Student Portal."

My reply I got when I asked about whether or not I needed an ESTER account. When I emailed the Office of Financial Aid, they asked me for my ESTER login, which is what I never got. So… everyone check your Rice Admission Student Portal for a decision!!

@sonicsymphony I applied to UVA too! Decisions are out tonight and I am a mess right now!!!

Just making sure check acceptance here: Login;

Financial Aid stuff here: https://esther.rice.edu/

I freaked from the UVA email too haha

@dh1234 Oh wow two decisions in one night (well, if the estimates for Rice hold true), good luck!!! I applied EA so I’m not a complete mess of nerves right now. I’m sure you’ll get some great news!

@Wamaster, No. Acceptance is in Esther as well.

@my88keys no acceptance is NOT in Ester. I will quote the email I received again:

Please note your admission decision will not be released in ESTHER, it will be released on your Rice Admission Student Portal.

Best Regards,

Natalie De La Garza
Enrollment Service Agent
Office of Admission

If the admissions decision and financial aid are released simultaneously, you’d be able to infer from Esther whether or not you got in; they wouldn’t give a student financial aid if they didn’t get into the school! Though the official decision will be released in the portal, you could still figure it out from Esther.

Less than half an hour!!! (if it’s today)

14 minutes…

@WelsCool, Okay. Well, in previous years, it’s been released in Esther. I guess they could have changed it. I suppose we’ll see.

@WelsCool @my88keys
It’s on both the admissions website and Esther :)

It’s almost time…

Yeah, probably on both haha

3 minutes, guys!!!
