12 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

hey guys! i'm new to this board... it seems REALLY cool! :) My name is Star, and I am also applying to boarding school, and oh man, am i nervous about March tenth! well, just wanted to introduce myself!

Hi, nice to meet you star! Where are you applying to?

Welcome to CC!

i applied to some schools out east, and a few in california. i'm definately leaning towards california! i loved the schools out there. i would be glad to go to any school i applied to, though. all were really nice.

Oh, cool. Are you from California? And I agree, all of the schools I applied to are great and I would love to attend any of them.

no, I'm not from california, though I have always had a secret dream to be a california surf girl-- but since the only body of water I can stay afloat in is my bathtub, my surf dreams will probably not come true!

I'm a California native. My sister goes to a boarding school in southern California and she can't believe I only applied to schools out east. Most people in California don't understand why anyone would want to leave the state. We have the beaches, the mountains, the great weather, and so on...Usually people move here and never leave!

california was amazing on so many levels... i mean, come on. who can resist palm trees?

kitkatbar, where does your sister go? I was really considering applying to Cate or Thacher, but it's just a little too far away for my parents. (I live in Michigan) With the five hour flights and time change, coming home for a long weekend wouldn't really be worth it, whereas with the New England boarding schools I can get on a quick one-hour flight with no time change.

And since it's winter, I'm REALLY regretting not applying to California schools.

My sister goes to Thacher. She loves it. We live in northern California, in the bay area. Yeah, I know what you mean about the weather. We were in VT last week, and I froze my butt off! Maybe I should have applied to Cate or Thacher...:(

I don't know...I like my high school and the warm weather, so I'm pretty chill with the idea of staying here if I don't get into boarding school. My dad would be happy. He just sent in payment for my sis' next year of boarding school.

I'm so scared for March tenth, I can't stop thinking about it at all.
Okay so thousands of kids apply to every top school in the country every year, and so many of them have the advantages of being incredible athletes, incredible musicians, coming from a diverse background, being a legacy, being international, just being incredibly smart. I'm none of that, and I'm so afraid of getting rejected from every school, because that would be so heartbreaking. And I've seen so many 'chances' threads here, of these kids who have straight As, amazing ECs, and numerous links to the schools. Of course they'll get in, but I just can't see a boarding school accepting a kid like me with two 77s and only one A average. I got a 96 on my SSATs, but my grades suck. Have you ever heard of a non-legacy kid being accepted at a top, top school with 2 C's? That's not like a rhetorical question I'm really wondering. And does anyone know if the website tells you at midnight exactly, or when?

what "top top" schools are you applying to?

andover, choate, st. paul's, hotchkiss, deerfield, and sgs

everyone is incredibly nervous about the tenth. everybody... we did the best we can do, and all we can do now is wait.

in twelve days we'll know, good or bad. Just think, this time in two weeks you might be deciding which school you want to go to!

hmmm...
i'm applying for all east schools as well.
i need my 4 seasons ;)

AHH 12 days.

4 seasons are nice--but really where I live, there are 4 seasons, we just need to drive a little ways to get to them! Every weekend in the winter, we drive to our cabin in Squaw Valley, ski for two days, then come back to the sunshine. The difference is, you can ski and get sunburnt at the same time :). All I got in Vermont last week was a windburn!

I find that really weird!!! You get like an icky raw rash if you stay out too long in the spot where the icy pricky wind hits you! I hate that, I always get it on my neck! Windburn, hahaha

11 More Days Now!
