1- can soembody explain to me how the scoring system works. there's an overall score and little sub-scores on each part. how do they all come together???

2- can a strong ACT score make up for a lacking SAT score ( by lacking i mean 50-100 points under a desired college's usually applicant)

1) If you do badly on the subscores, it will bring down your section score. Honestly, no idea, but something like that.

2) If the college accepts either ACT or SAT scores, then just send them your best score from either test. My friend got into Penn with just a 32 ACT, never even took the SAT. It's that easy!

Subscores just show how you did in certain areas within each section. They serve primarily to show you in what areas you couls improve the most and in what areas you are most strong. For example, if you get a subscore of 18 (top) in the Usage/Mechanics subscore of the English test and a 12 in the area of Rhetorical Skills, you can see that you are very strong in Usage/Mechanics and you could improve considerably by studying Rhetorical Skills.
