Course Load at colleges...

I took 17 my first semester and 19 this semester at a state university.

I guess that is officially 8 different classes this semester, although two are just one credit labs that arent much work at all. It was a little hectic though, I don't recommend it unless you feel up to the challenge.

I'm going to take 15 credits (5 classes) next year at a state university. two of those classes are art classes which go for three hours at a time (ouch)

If one was to only take 12 credits a term you could nto graduate in 4 years.

it would take almost near 6

whats 12 credits (i beleive different colleges have diff credit systems). Is 12 credits 3 or 4 classes?

Many remedial clases are 4 credits as well as heavy corses such as pysics which include labs

You basic history will be 3 crrdits

This term that god its over is

Class Credits

History 3
Writing 3
Programming 3
Speech 3
Math 4

My major is 132 credits

I have to take 17(16.5) credits a term minimum to graduate in 4 years.

12 credits is really easy. The extra class can hurt ya if you dont take time for it.

It would take 6 years if you didn't have any AP credits coming in, which I do, and I would hope the majority of yall' should, I hope at least.

no way, waste of time. IMO i enjoyed HS. I liked having 1 1/2 years with only 1 45 minute class a day. The rest of the say i ran and lifted weights. Fun for me.

There's no reason to hope people have AP credits...

The general guideline at most schools is 5 classes for 15 credits a semester, times 8 semesters (4 years) = 120 credits, which you need to graduate. Of the 120, 30-40 of them will be in your major.

Yeah with AP it can get hard, esp with a major like chemE. I had 17 hours at the beginning of the semester and then realized I was in class for about 29.5 hours a week so I dropped film and that took it down to about 23-25 hours a week, which was manageable but for only 14 credit hours that is ridiculous. Plus I spend most of my time on a class (acc chem lab, 2 hrs) that is the least part of my GPA. My other classes are acc chem, calc 2, phys mech, and intro to ChBE.

Blech, the acc chem lab I was in this semester is known as the rite of passage for chemEs at U of I. 20 hrs experimental + 12 hours of research * 40 pages of report = one hell of an excruciating portion of the 6 other labs we had to finish this semester. That one took the cake tho. Yep def glad that's over.

We are required to have 124 credits to graduate from my school, meaning an average of 15.5 credits each semester (most people alternate between 15 and 16). With my major, minor, and gen eds... I will need 132 like vinny, to graduate. If I only did 12 a semester I would be there..... WAY to long.

I have 5-6 courses a semester usually, but next year I'm going to have 3 or 4.

I'm confused here as I have taken 4 courses/ term for my entire freshman year at the university of michigan and that adds up to 17 credits per term. Am I behind credit wise? (I only had 2 AP test transfer in) I thought that was the average amount of classes, b/c the the max number of credits that can be taken w/o an extra fee is 18/term?!?!?!

we all realize that the max credit load / usual course load / college distribution course load is different for every school, right?

Engineers have it bad,. Many classes are 3 hrs a week but only go for 1 credit.

Lol i hate it

gphoenix. The average is 17.
