Course Load? *DEADLINE*

I'm at the deadline (tomorrow) of changing my course for next year (junior), and I wanted to see the opinions of CC.

AP Chem (2 periods)
AP English
AP Computer Science
Math Analysis Honors (hardest offered for grade...weighted 5.0)
ASB (Student gvt class. our school has a legit one... massive time commitment)
US History (regular...took AP European History last year)

I wanted to know whether you think I should stay in APUSH or just go into the regular College Prep class. The teacher is supposed to be rediculously hard (only 3 A-s out of 50 people or so). My worst fear is getting burnt out.

Will it be bad if I don't take APUSH in terms of college admissions (top tier)?

Math Analysis Honors is the hardest honors class in my school too (only 15 people in my school currently take the course and our school has 2800 students) . I am going to be a junior next year as well. I had to devote at least 2 hours a day on math and with your current schedule I think it will be very hard especially with AP chem and ASB. I think you should just go into regular prep class for USH . Unless you plan to major in history.

I actually just got off the phone with my GC (because deadline is tomorrow) and she said if I want to apply to Ivies, then I HAVE to take APUSH...

APUSH is considered a bread and butter AP course...I would take it, if I were you. If you are really super concerned about burning out, it might be a good idea to drop AP CS, which though a very worthwhile course, is probably the least "necessary" of the ones that you have listed.

Thanks for the advice!

What others are considered "bread and butter?"

English for sure, probably also Calc if your school offers it. Not quite "bread and butter", but I would add that if available, an applicant looking to be as competitive as possible should probably have one AP science course as well (There were quite a few pre-med kids at my HS who took all three (Bio, Physics, Chem)).

yeah ill end up taking ap physics, ap calc, ap stat, ect senior year.

OK, I guess I'll go with APUSH

AP Chem 0 Period
AP Chem
AP English
AP Computer Science
Math Analysis Honors
ASB
AP US History

screw it. might as well go for it :)
