course rigor...

Here's the scoop: I've taken all honors classes (this is my junior year.) However, I got a B- in Hon. Alg. II so I switched down to a regular math class junior year. Will this kill me in admissions?

Depends on whether the major you want to take contains math or not.

Also depends what schools you are looking at. Some value rigor more then others, though switching when you had a B- is not great (at my school they basically insist you keep taking honors unless you get a C).

catria, nope haha I basically want to steer clear of math in college. I basically like every honors subject except math and science, and my ECs and awards reflect that. ArtsyGirl13, I’m probably looking for small liberal arts colleges, such as vassar and barnard. still really competitive, but they may look at my transcript more holistically. i decided to switch down because i didn’t want to be too stressed (precalculus honors is brutal…kids who took HA2 and got A’s usually got B’s and C’s in this course). thanks!
