Hi, I plan on applying for the next fall 2017 semester as a transfer microbiology major to UCSB, UCR, and maybe UCI or UCD, with a TAG to UCSB and a UC GPA of 3.35. There is a lot of chatter about having to take calc 3 for bio majors and wanted to know if its true or not. I just finished calc 2, with no desire to take calc 3, haha. Also is it alright to wait to take physics series until admittance, but take all other lower division classes(and ochem) at cc? Also I’d like to hear from others that are bio majors accepted into a UC and what your GPA, courseload, personal statement, etc were like.
Biological science
UCSB-
Admit GPA Range: 3.35-3.73
Requires up to Calculus 2, Stats
UCR-
Admit GPA Range: 3.13-3.61
Only requires up to Calculus 2
UCI-
Admit GPA Range: 3.28-3.75
Requires Calculus 1 but requires either Cal 2 or Stats. Pick one
UCD-
Admit GPA Range: 3.26-3.73
B.A : Recommends any Calculus, but requires Stat.
B.S : Requires Calculus 2, recommends Cal 3
Also, I’ve looked over UCSD
UCSD-
Admit GPA Range: 3.40-3.81
Requires up to Calculus 2 and Stats
They were all General Biology/ Biological Science
Didn’t look at Microbiology because not all campuses offer this major.
Good luck, and check these info yourself at
