Covering The Basics

I'm in need of some basic information that I can't seem to find. I understand that you need to get a bachelors, than transfer to a medical school, and than continue your training through residency. Is there a particular major that I have to get a bachelors in to transfer into medical school? Which courses do I have to take in general. After I get the bachelors, do I transfer into undergraduate medical school or graduate medical school? Could someone just tell me the necessary steps an 18 year old has to take to become a cardiologist. Thanks for all the help. Its well appreciated.

smoking too much of that stuff can affect your short term memory and is NOT conducive to extraordinary performance on standardized tests !!!

Agreed. Anyways, back to topic, Tropixx do you have any medical school experience? I’d like to ask you a few things.

You need a BS or BA to apply to med school

There’s no such thing as an undergraduate med school in the US. All med schools are graduate schools that require a degree, the MCAT, as well as other components of the application.

Any major will work as long as you fulfill the premed reqs

You don’t transfer into med school. You apply via the AMCAS.

See your other post. I have outlined the requirements.

@finanace
Either you are a ■■■■■, or you need to talk to your college counsellor to get appropriate guidance.
@tropixx
I hope finance is not a ■■■■■ and is genuine, if so I do not want to offend him/her.

Still … ROFL… about “smoking” too much of “that” stuff… nice one, made me smile… :)

@ all CC’rs

■■■■■ Alert. Finance IS a ■■■■■. Those of you who choose to answer, I am sure Finance is laughing his/her head off.

■■■■■ Alert…:)

How do you know? I didn’t get the smoking thing…

@ The Bomb
It is good that you didn’t get the smoking thing…:slight_smile: It shows what a good boy you are!

Finance has been wanting to become a MBA, Investment banker, an Electrical Engineer, a Cardiologist and a cardio thoracic surgeon all at the same time. And so many CC’rs have been providing honest and sincere advice.

Some how it doesn’t feel right. Very likely finance is a ■■■■■, pulling people’s legs.

I’ve been asking how to become all of those things because I haven’t started my post high-school education yet. I’m just trying to find something that I’d enjoy doing for a living. At first I wanted to get an M.B.A. and become an investment banker. I got a lot of information on it and realized that they work extremely long hours for a decent pay. Than I was interested in electrical engineering, and I still am to a degree. I just thought that their salaries would be higher. Today I was searching for information on surgeries and ended up watching some videos. One thing led to another and now I’m interested in what particular steps I would have to take to become a doctor. I’m not trolling, but I honestly don’t care if you think I am. I registered for community college not to long ago, but I didn’t choose my major yet. Either way I’ll be taking general education courses for now. I’m just trying to get some decent information on how to become a cardiologist or a cardiothoracic surgeon. If I was trolling, than I wouldn’t even be close to being a successful one. What am I doing that’s “trolling” everyone? You’re saying that everyone is actually giving me sincere answers. Yes, they are. By giving me sincere answers, they’re getting trolled?

My intent was a bit of COMIC relief from the ■■■■■…you are indeed right…it doesn’t feel right and he needs to find other venue…its all good and glad to bring a smile now and then…

@Tropixx… it does help to smoke that stuff once in a while… :)

@finance… if you are genuine, good luck with your search to find the right future career. It looks like you want to earn 200 K +, a year but you do not want to work hard for that ! [Consider investing in multi-state lotto, that may some times come in handy as well].

It will help, if you to talk to your college counselor first, than ask total strangers on this board, who may not have the correct information to help you make your decision regarding your future career.

BTW, if you do find a career that pays 200K+, with working 8 hrs a day, with weekends off, please let me know as well, may be it is time for a career change rather than, me smoking all “that stuff”, :).

Good Luck.

I don’t intend on working 8 hour days. I’d be willing to work 10-14 hour days as long as I have weekends off. The reason why I’m asking “total strangers” on here is because these total strangers have been through it or are currently going through it. A lot of counselors give pointless information that doesn’t coincide with the information given by another counselor. I think everything that I was interested in requires a lot of hard work. From investment banking, to electrical engineering, to cardiology. All of those career fields requires it’s employees to be focused and diligent.

I think everybody is annoyed because this is not the best place to put this, it should be in the Pre Med forum, not in the Multiple Degree Programs forum. Either way, you should still talk to your counselor. They would know the answer to many of your questions. Even better, talk to a counselor at the community college you will attend, they will definitely know how to accomplish those goals.

It is extreme even for the entertaining purposes…
