Hello Folks,

Just wanted to test the waters to see how many public accountants actually go to top 10 MBA programs, and if so, what are the (my) chances?

I'm currently a 3rd year auditor working at a Big 4 accounting firm. I graduated from a top 10 undergraduate business school with honors in math/finance (3.7/4.0 -the math major really hurt). Interned and received an IB offer from a bulge braket bank, but couldn't handle the long nights, so decided to switch gears and earned my MS in accounting (3.8/4.0). Now that I earned my CPA and working in public accounting for a while, I feel like the work is repetitive and need a desperate change.

For those who couldn't read the whole thing, here's a line summary.

*BS in Finance and Math with Honors (3.7) - top 10 business school
*MS in Accounting (3.8) - top 10 business school
*GMAT: 720
*Investment banking internship, declined full-time offer
*Public accounting at a Big 4 for 3 years
*CPA licensed, studying for the CFA
*Interested in a change in career (equity research/buy-side) by going to a top 10 MBA program

PS. How many ppl here are working in public accounting? What are your plan and ideas? Most of my collegues just accept job offers as controllers and accounting managers, but I would hate to do that for the rest of my life.
