CR approach questions

Ok, well I have practicing for the PSAT and this is how my subscores are looking right now:

CR: 65
M: 73
W: 73
Total: 211

I would really like to boost my CR slightly to around a 70. I got the 65 after memorizing Direct hits and PR's hit parade; however, I still miss an occasional medium level SC question because I do not understand what "type" of word should be inserted in the blank(s). In other words, I don't know what the sentence is asking. If that makes any sense, how should I improve on this? Also, on passage based questions, I have heard various bits of information. Is it true that ALL questions (even the inference questions) are DIRECTLY stated in the passage. If this is the case, how to I respond to the questions that say "how would the author of passage 1 respond to this statement in passage 2"? Lastly, my strategy on CR is to read a paragraph and then answer questions about tht paragraph and then repeat. This is strategy fairly effective?

THANKS,
Robbie

whats the direct hits and pr hit parade?

two vocab lists that are supposed to be pritty good

theres no single way to answer CR questions. do whichever you find easiest. some read the entire thing and answer the questions (me), others go directly to questions, and there are others like you. most of the time its stated but the problem is finding it in the lines in the given period.
