Only discuss the Comic Books passage in this thread.

My answers:

1) The tone of Passage 1 is more severe than that of Passage of 2.

2) The definition of "compromised" in the context of the passage is "degraded" (not really sure that is right, though)

3) The author of Passage 2 would reply that many adults do read and collect comic books.

4) Both authors would agree that comic books have no educational value.

I know that for various other questions, the answers had something to do with how comic books helped children cope with stress.

gee...i think i chose the tone of the first was more analytical than that of the second; the rest should all be the same

one of the answers was something like "children's fears" something, i think

Actually, if you think about it, the dominant tone of Passage 1 is very condemning, while Passage 2 has a conciliatory air. I think that both seemed pretty analytical.

5) when asked what the author of passage 1 would respond to last sentence of passage 2 (children could imagein and do what they want, and get away with it) I said "he'd use this as a potential harmful influence of the books on children."

6) when passage 1 said, "they don't get to learn anything. they get harmed. they...blah blah" dont remember answer choices.

Did anybody else define "compromised" as "degraded"? I was torn between the latter and "endangered".

i chose degraded

That's good to know :)

Looks like we're in the same boat, tonysu!

so did any of these three passages fall in the experiemental section?

nope. hispanic, comic, and lewis were all real. and all the short passages ajkcorner talked about.

i know this cuz i got writing experimental.

No, I know that for a fact b/c I got all of these passages and had a math experimental.

ya i got degraded also

i agree with all 4 answers u post here.

i just started my account cause i took the sat for the first time yesterday, how many times have you guys taken it

I've taken it twice as of now (once in 7th grade, once yesterday)

ok then which among these was not in the 25 mins section?

7th Grade??? OMG!!

I had a math experimental and had the Lewis passage, the Hispanic passage, and the Comic books passage. Other people on here say that the experimental reading section has to do with literary criticism.

no_novice: was dragged kicking and screaming to the SAT in the 7th grade, but ended up doing well anyway. A lot of people in the US take it in the 7th grade as part of a talent search.

Well, it's pretty common here in the South b/c Duke University sponsors it. And don't you say anything about the South!!!! :)
