Hi everyone, I'm new here, and I was just wondering if a bad GPA could be, like, balanced out with SAT or subject test scores.. I have a 3.6 GPA, but a 2310 SAT, 760 Lit, 780 Bio, and 800 Math II. I've also passed all my AP exams with 4s and 5s..

So basically, how worried should I be if I'm applying to schools like the top-tier UCs? :/

as a rule of thumb for myself: high school transcript is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of any application. GPA usually reflects that.

I think the school’s reputation would play a part. If the school has a repuation as a tough marking school then I would think your GPA wouldn’t hurt you. Probably teacher recommendations/essays will have added significance as they would connect-the-dots between the outstanding SAT scores and the GPA
