Crazy Idea

I was looking at how expensive IU OOS tuiton was and I got this idea. Wisconsin and Minnesota have a tuition repriprocity where tuition is cheaper if you go to a state school if you are from WI or MN. Imagine if Illinois and Indiana had a tuition repiprocity! Students from Illinois could go to IU and save tons of money and vice versa. I know that in our terrible economic recession that this is extremely unlikely, but I sent a letter to Gov. Quinn in IL for the heck of it. Please comment with thoughts and ideas!

Thanks

I totally support you because I live in IL, and think that is an excellent idea to IL residents, since the instate tuition at IUB is much cheaper, but the instate tuition at UIUC is around 29-33k a year, I don’t think IN residents would like to pay that much to go to UIUC, therefore I cannot think of any reason they would support it, it would be not fair(not beneficial) to them. Why the instate tuition at our flagship university(UIUC) is soooooooooooo expensive? Besides, the tuition at UIUC is going to increase around 7% this year, state income tax has increased 50%, what the governor has done to help IL residents during this difficult economy??

I have no other choice so I sent my children to OOS with scholarships which are cheaper than sending them to UIUC.
