Crazy Pressure

So here's my problem, I'm a highschool senior and everyone I know is telling me that I need to be applying to more competitive schools... I'm just not ballsy enough to do it.

Here are my stats:
SAT I: 1290 old scale, 1930 new scale (670 CR, 620 M, 640 W)
I took SAT IIs in December, I dont think I did very well, but I was really just taking them to get them out of the way. I took Literature and US History.

My HS average is a 93, I'm not sure what my gpa is on a 4.0 scale (3.5 maybe).. and I'm 17/160 in my class.. I've taken 2 years of honors english and history classes as well as AP Literature (4), AP US History (3), AP Language and Composition (which I'm taking this year), as well as College English, College French, and several other courses for college credit

I've got bunches of extra curriculars and community service..

ok i could go on but i'm getting bored.. lol
I'm interested in going to school for business, these are the schools I've already applied to so far..

Bentley College (EA)
Bryant University
Fordham University
Northeastern (EA)
Boston College
SUNY Geneseo
Providence College

basically they're all good match/safety (except for Boston College, which is my only real reach)..

Well let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions..

Thanks a bunch!

Well, get more balls :) you COULD apply Wharton as a super reach or try to back door your way in through Penn CAS, although this is definitely not suggested as it's not a sure thing ;) NYU Stern might be a nice reach for you.

thanks.. ugh i hate applying to college..

bump!

I'd for sure look at making application to Stern.......the worst that can happen is a thin letter......can you handle that? Applying isn't what takes the kahunas it is the opening of the thin letter and not letting it get you down.

I'll definitely look into NYU Stern, I can handle the thin envelope..

Its picking out schools that won't just laugh at my application thats the problem... I just dont want to apply to crazy crazy reaches, and i'm having trouble figuring out which reaches are crazy and which are just normal, which is why I've shyed away from pretty much all reaches.

I'm interested in going to school for business[/quote/

How much investigating about undergrad business programs have you done? Do some programs hold more interest to you than others? I mean have you investigated Kelley School and Indiana University??

i've mainly looked into schools in the northeast/new england area, mostly the boston area.. I dunno, i'm pretty limited by location, I want to go to a school in or relatively close to a city.. preferably New York City, Providence or Boston.

and by your list you must also mean close to home???

I don't see Carnegie Mellon on your list but it is well respected as an undergrad program.

not sufficatingly close, but close enough to come home for the holidays without buying a plane ticket.

I think I'm an East Coaster for life..

No plane ticket no diversity.......I mean you would only be leaving for 4 years. Too me it is a good thing to leave and then return.

i guess... right now i think the east coast is whats best for me though.

Geneseo is not east coast ... sure we can't talk you into CMU?

lol, Geneseo is about as far west as I think I'll head.. CMU i'm definitely going to look into.. are you sure its not too reachy though? I've never been to Pittsburgh... I have this image of it that its kind of a factory town?
