I had some personal/family problems during high school. I also switched schools/attended on online school, which turned out to be a mess so I got my GED in January. (I was expected to graduate high school this June.)

SAT Scores

Critical Reading 530
Math 460
Writing 390

First Semester at local CC (started as soon as I received GED)
English 110
American History II
Forensics
Math 007 ( non credit course)

This school only wanted me to take 12 credits/they had very few choices for classes.

Grades (just an estimate because the teachers are very unhelpful)

English A-B? Hard to tell. We take spelling quizzes and I have dyslexia, which is bringing my grade down.
American B-C (Should go up to a B, still hoping for a A. I honestly don't know how this prof. is keeping his job)
Forensics A
Math 007 A

I'm interested in DePaul. My orginal plan was to stay at the CC (before I realized the how awful it is and transfer in Fall 08.

Would I be crazy to apply now for Fall 07? I realize it is very late...
Would I even have a chance of transfering to DePaul for Fall 08.

Any other schools I could have the chance of getting into for Fall 07? Or that would be a good match for me in general or am I stuck? What would you do?

I would really recommend staying at your CC and getting those grades up. with such a mixed up school record and poor SATs, I would think transfering as a freshman would be extremly difficult. try to continue at your community college and pull a 3.0 average. maybe try to take the SATs again, since it has been such a short amount of time out of high school for you. try to get at least 500s in each subject. with that sort of turn around, you will look much better as a prospective transfer student.

I figured I can help you considering I was accepted to DePaul, but I prefer Loyola instead. Well, your stats are really low and to be honest I believe that DePaul is selective. Plus you SAT score is low as well, and you might get rejected because of this, so I doubt $40 would be worth taking the chance. Yet I see that you were exp. some personal family matters, if this primarily affected your performance, then I suggest you let DePaul know in a written statement/essay explaining how Dyslexia and Family Probs. hindered your ability to perform better.

I just looked at the DePaul application and there are no places for essays. Is this common?

DePauls application does not require transfer applicants to submit any essay, nor is there any space provided on the application itself for doing so. What I meant by my post in #3 is that you should send in a seperate essay, typed most likely through mail directly to admissions only after you send in your app. be it through mail or web.
