My kid is accepted to both Oberlin College and Ohio U Honors Tutorial College. He wants to study creative writing and is interested in the general ‘approach’ to teaching at both places. Is there an emphasis on either workshopping ideas, or teaching the ‘how to’s/nuts and bolts of techniques’ of writing? From what he can tell, at least at Oberlin, there doesn’t seem to be an emphasis on teaching you approaches/techniques in how to write (and I’m not talking about grammar, but the creative aspects of writing). . .?
