Does Swarthmore have a creative writing program/major? What about classes in drawing? If any of you have taken the courses, how well would you rate them?

There is not a major in creative writing, but you can major in English with an emphasis in creative writing. See this link:

There is an extensive Studio Arts program. The intro course, Foundation Drawing, is the prerequisite for all other courses in Studio Art:

STUA 001. Foundation Drawing

This course is designed as an introduction to drawing as the basis for visual thinking and perception. The class will focus on concepts and practices surrounding the use of drawing as a visual language rather than as a preliminary or planning process. Whether students are interested in photography, painting, pottery, sculpture, installation or performance, the ability to design and compose visually is fundamental to their development. The course follows a sequence of studies that introduces students to basic drawing media and compositional elements while they also learn to see inventively.
This course is a prerequisite for all other courses in studio art.

Creative writing–there aren’t a ton of courses offered, but most workshops are by (selective) application and the quality is reputed to be good. I’ll be taking Fiction Workshop next semester.

Studio art–not particularly friendly to non-majors, since there is no minor offered (you can only minor in art history) and Foundation is a REQUIRED prerequisite. That means that non-major studio art courses without prerequisite are very rare.

There is also Figure Drawing club every week, with nude models.
