So I got into UCF for Summer 2009 and UF for Spring 2010. I might go to UF in spring but until then I have the option to accumulate 15 credit hours at any college over the summer and fall semesters. So I was just wondering how many hours are typically in the summer and fall semesters and is it possible to have less hours than that? Also Will UCF be ok with me leaving after the Fall semester, because it is not really a transfer I am just dropping out UCF to go to UF. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks.

I believe that you cannot officially enroll at UCF, instead you want to change your status to that of a transient student (you can read about this at FACTs.org). Call and ask now. When you are a transient student, you arrange to have your credits/transcript sent to your home college (UF) after you complete each course. As a transient student you are not limited by full time/part time status. You just take classes. Normally, full time students take 6 credits (2 classes) in summer and 12-15 credits (4-5 classes) in Fall.

Thanks that really helped. But one last thing how many hours are in a typical, non-transient, semester of college?

A typical student takes 15 credits or 5, 3 credit classes a semester (give or take a credit, since some science classes are 4 credits with the lab). Students have to take 12 credits to be considered full time. Many freshman take 12 or 13 credits their first semester to acclimate them to college life and not overwelm them with the academics.
