A student needs 60 credit hours to apply to transfer to UF. I'm debating earning those credit hours at FAU or UCF. Right now I should have 9 or 12 credit hours from high school that should be accepted no matter where I go. I was planning on doing summer school for 9 credits, earning 36 credits during fall and spring, and getting some credits through online courses during next year and transferring into UF by Summer or Fall 2014.

But I didn't apply to FAU in time to apply for Summer. I might want to go there to save money, but would not being able to start school this summer prevent me from being able to go to UF next summer or fall? Also, I heard that the Fall term is harder to get into, so if that is true I would probably want to apply for summer or spring. I'd take the fall off, but my problem with that is that if I didn't get accepted as a transfer student in the spring, I don't know what I'd do.

Also I've heard that it is easier to get into UF with an AA degree. Is that the same thing as earning 60 credits?

Would going to FAU starting in the Fall prevent me from applying to UF's summer term next year?

Would applying for Fall hurt my chances of acceptance?

I'm not sure about my major yet, but I know it is nearly impossible to transfer in if you plan on doing a biology major or any advanced science major... how difficult is it to transfer into UF's other departments?

Can I take online classes during the Summer before I start school in the Fall if I go to FAU and will those online classes count as credits when I apply to transfer to UF?

Will UF look at my old application when I apply to transfer or do they delete the apps that are more than a year old?

I have talked to someone in admissions at UF and they told me that they don't care which college I'm coming from, and only would give slight preference from someone at Santa Fe if there was only 1 spot left in the class.. is this true?

For UF, it doesn’t matter what term you apply for, it has no weight on decision for acceptance or rejection. Getting into fall is the same as getting into summer. I talk to admissions a lot, and a common mistake is when people think fall is the hardest to get into

Yes 60 credits is an AA degree. You need to make sure you are taking your major’s prerequisites at whatever college you will be attending. These are required for your application to even be considered. The amount of courses requires varies with your major. For accounting, it is 6 or 7 specific classes, so be sure you’re on track to have these done by the time you enter UF.

As far as your last question, yeah that’s true because someone from admissions told you. Always trust the admissions department and be wary of information posted on these college confidential boards. There is so much bad information floating around, it’s almost always best just to ask admissions directly.

Thanks for the replies guys. It looks like I could stay home and go to FAU if I really wanted to. I can probably accurately guess most of the answers I’ve posted anyway.

Would someone at UF admissions reply back to me If I emailed them some of the questions I have listed here?
And it looks like I could spend a year at FAU and stay home if I really wanted to. I still have a decision to make, and its getting kind of late…

Yes, admissions will email back answers to your questions.

sorry to even ask that, but some schools just havent mailed me back after I emailed them because I hadn’t paid them any money yet (FSU, UCF, FAU)

If you truly want to go to UF just go to Sante Fe College and you will already be in Gainesville. All my friends that applied for transfer got accepted and some even turned UF down to go to Cornell and NYU.

A girl I know did not get into UF as freshman. Went to FAU for 2 years to get her 60 credits and transferred to UF with no problem, and it I believe it is for some sort of science degree. Just finished up her sophomore year at FAU and then immediately started Summer C at UF.

So if you cannot take any classes at FAU this summer than just take some classes at your community college…even if it is online…then start at FAU in the fall…then transfer when you have enough credits

2013cheer, Do you know what her gpa was?

Sorry, I was wrong about her starting Summer C at Uf…she has been accepted for the fall. She has to complete a couple classes to get her AA (one of them being a speech class) and will be able to start classes at UF in the Fall. She had over 60 credits, but not an AA. She is accepted as long as she gets a C in the classes over the summer. So she is in Gainesville taking the classes at Santa Fe this summer.

So make sure you are filling all the requirements for an AA and not just the 60 credits

So I should talk to a counselor at UCF and make sure I’m taking the classes I need to take to get an AA in whichever field I will be in, not just getting 60 credits and taking useless electives. Is it any different if I plan to double major? Thanks.
