Credit Transfers?

I don't know if this is right place to post, but it's a high school student's problem (and this thread is much more active than other ones.)

I was accepted to Johns Hopkins' Pre-College Program with financial aid for the coming summer. Now, the only reason I'm going is to take some classes and get credits (which would hopefully make my college resume more appealing.) Unfortunately, I won't be able to take the foreign langauge courses I want (because of session conflicts.) I have a poli sci and an econ class, so if I like those, I'll most likely shy away from linguistics and go for IR (my mom thinks IR would be more practical than ling.)

I could also take classes at the local community college (Nassau Community College is one of the top community colleges nationwide, because of the support form high taxes.) Here, I would be able to take more classes (that I want) at a cheaper cost. I could also continue my studies into the school year.

Here's the problem. My mom had a friend that went to cc and then reapplied. My mom's friend's son wound up getting into Duke, Columbia, and Adelphi, but chose to settle for Adelphi because the other schools wouldn't accept some of his cc credits. SO now she thinks that getting credits at NCC wouldn't be as good as a more reputable school's credits.

I know I put a whole lot of nothing in setting up a question, so here it is: DO YOU THINK THAT A CC'S CREDITS WILL BE ANY GOOD AT TOP TIER COLLEGES?

no. i was thinking about going to Rice, knowing that the 30 hours of CC credit from my local CC would not transfer. but now i decided on Texas, and it all transfers :) Ill be going in as at least a sophomore, depending on AP credit.

Ahh, okay. So I guess I'll stick to JHU.
