Finding the right Community College

Hey

I've had my mind set on transferring to Wharton for some time now. I've read over their transfer requirements a lot of times. The requirements are a b!tch. I want to start cc soon but I just can't make a decision on which one to attend. I've been looking at the regionally accredited colleges over at Middle States Commission on Higher Education.. there are a lot of them and I have no idea how I could even begin to tell if their classes would meet Wharton's quality requirements. The only other school I've "looked" at has been Stern over at NYU but really, most of my time has been spent on Wharton. I really want to go there.

I live in NJ right now and don't know if going to a cc here or over in PA would make a difference. And if so, what ones are best known. Basically I'm just looking for any tips you guys might have for choosing the right cc for a future transferee.

Some more info about me: High school drop (kicked) out, got GED and will take SAT. I want to transfer (going in ) as a sophomore.

To be honest, it really doesn't matter which CC you attend as long as you get your work done and do it well. I go to a California CC that is "up there" but it's just a bunch of BS. The key to success at a CC is to derive a plan and stick to it. You don't want to waste your time.

I'm sorry, but transferring to wharton is not very realistic for you. Not completely sure, but I've heard the acceptance rate is something like 2% for transfers. Stern isn't that realistic either, not as a sophomore at least. You would have a better chance at stern as a junior based on your high school record, assuming you do extremely well in community college. I would focus on schools that are more transfer friendly and you can still apply to your reaches if you want.

Yeah I realize my chances are pretty slim, but I still want to give it a try. If I get denied as a Sophomore I'll try again as a Junior. Can't hurt to try I think.

The other B-schools I've looked at don't really appeal to me, aside from Stern and McIntire over at Virginia which I'll be looking into a lot more.

Thanks. If anyone has any more advice they could give me, I'm all ears.
