Creighton 2024 Admission Decisions

@Sorrento17 Thank you!! I just scoured her portal but there is no Net ID. There is a list of 4 scholarships she can apply for, as well as 3 programs. Lots of checkmarks showing all materials received, with a message at top saying the application complete. But no Net ID! I’ll try to chill out a bit  but will add an update here with any changes.

@momof3co she applied to a total of 3 schools, including Creighton. As it stands, Creighton is her #1 choice but we want her to attend accepted students days wherever she is accepted to be 100% sure! I am a Creighton Alum and I want to be sure I am not influencing her at all, although I do honestly feel it is the best fit for her.

Scholarship notification came with acceptance. FA decision is due in February, according to the webinar recording available on the FA web site.

So excited, she got in!!! The Net ID never appeared in her portal, but today it was updated with her acceptance and the link to the letter! Accepted to Heider with merit.
Thanks for the encouragement and assuring me. Could you share how long it took to get the papers in the mail vs. the portal update? I can’t wait for my D to find out, but she prefers opening up the postal mail and finding out that way so I’m wondering how long I’ll have to wait without telling her, ha.

Congratulations to everyone! I’m new on this forum. My son just got notice that he was accepted with merit to Heider. Has anyone been to the open houses or visits? What do your kids like about Creighton?

Yay to both of your kids!!

@momofginger , yes, we have been to the Bluejay Visit Day and also did a more private tour of campus. My daughter liked the whole feel of the campus, the diversity of the student body, and how everyone was friendly. She is nursing so was also looking for direct entry and a program that had demonstrated long term success with NCLEX pass rates. She also liked how there was some control over what theology classes they could take, so students could explore an area of interest. We have toured other institutions that did not have that flexibility.

Good luck with the decision!

@phxcactus Thanks for your response. When you say “control over what theology classes they could take”, what do you mean by that?

@momofginger not everyone has to take the same class. For instance, my son goes to a different Catholic University and everyone has to take the same theology course as a freshman. The course at his school is a 2-semester requirement and is mainly about that order’s teachings. He would have preferred a World Religions option or something different that interested him.

@phxcactus That makes sense. I saw you could pick from different classes, which is what my son would want to. Thanks!

@momof3co, yaaaay so glad the acceptance finally came!! Congratulations!! My daughter’s portal showed her acceptance exactly one week ago but we have not yet received the mail packet!

Thank you so much @Colorado14 ! Very happy but it sounds like I’ll be playing the waiting game again in anticipation of that mail packet! Or I’ll work on convincing her to check the portal.

@momof3co Congratulations!!! So glad that the wait is over for you. My daughter’s acceptance package came in the mail about a week after she received notification on her portal.

@Sorrento17 Oh thank you! I am glad that wait is over too, although I tried today and she is set on getting decisions in the mail. So different from me in that respect; I want to know right away! Thanks for the timeline. I’m waiting a week then for her to hear the news and see the merit. Do you have others to wait for?

@momof3co She’s waiting on two more, but she won’t hear from either of them until December or January.

My son’s friend received his acceptance packet on November 19th; he applied mid October. He is pre-med. My son applied to the nursing program but is not a strong candidate at all. He has not received an acceptance packet nor had any changes on his portal. I think it’s safe to assume he wasn’t accepted. He will be devastated.

Update: My son was accepted to the nursing program! So excited! Never underestimate hard work!

Yay @CadenM ! So happy for him! My daughter said congratulations and hopes they can be nursing buddies. Creighton has an exceptional nursing program…he will get a great education!

Just an update that my daughter got her acceptance letter in the mail Friday (1 week after the portal updated, like you all said to expect!), and I was so glad I hadn’t ruined the moment by pushing her to check the portal earlier. She was moved to tears when she read the letter out loud and then saw the merit $ number. I think just more of a wow factor to see it on paper. Great moment! We just booked flights to go to Special Programs Day in January. Has anyone been through that experience for business? She wasn’t quite sure what to expect with the ethics cases. I’m interested to learn about the business program in person since health/medicine seems more the primary focus of the school, or at least what it’s known for.

Just wanted to check back in on this thread. Has anyone decided on Creighton or have it as one of your top options? Did anyone go to special programs day in January? My D20 and I went, and Creighton moved way up on the list after the event. She is now waiting to hear back about the special program she applied for, and especially about the additional scholarships she “competed” for. Other than the weather in Omaha, we don’t see any negatives to the school. Is there something we’re missing?
