My d has been looking at Creighton as one of several colleges and universities that she is interested in. Looking at their website it appears that they are very service oriented. Can any students or alumni help fill us in on the atmosphere, seriousness of study, influence of the Jesuits, etc? D is interested in Spanish, History, Latin American studies, international relations and anthropology. In otherwards a well rounded liberal arts program. Thanks.

iadorking-I am an alum of Creighton and am helping my cousin with the college search by perusing College Confidential. This is a great site and my first post.
I loved my experience at Creighton. They really live the Jesuit mission of being “men and women for others”. The Jesuit priests are dynamic, as are all faculty. Students tend to be serious about whatever they do, whether it is studying or campus involvement. They are as well rounded as you will find. For your daughters Latin America interest, I would encourage you to look into the Dominican Republic Program at CU. It is a volunteer study abroad. A truly eye opening experience.
Best of luck!

Thanks so much. I tell her to check out the Dominican Republic Program. One other thing - she loves her instruments and currently plays in band and orchestra. Is there the opportunity for nonmajors to play?

Most of the people I knew that were involved in the orchestras and ensemles were not music majors. So, I think the program is set up well for nonmajors. Same goes for theatre and dance. My cousin is not a dance major but plans to still be in the dance troupes and classes.
