im currently a senior in high school and as the may 1 deadline is approaching i have to make my final decision on which school i want to attend for the next four years. i currently live in southern california and the last two schools that its come down to are creighton in omaha, nebraska and loyola marymount in los angeles, california. most people would say omaha? are you kidding me but i loved the school so much and to be honest i think im slighlty leaning a bit more towards it then lmu. both of the schools are giving me around the same amount of money although lmu would cost a bit more, since creighton is covering just over 38k every year. i want to double major in english and sociology and then eventually go onto law school. those are my plans for now at least, they could always change but who knows? all the schools i applied to were jesuit or catholic because my faith is so important to me.

i really cant decide on what to do, i love both schools and they are so completley different that i would love anyone who gave me some input. <33 thanks

wow… hmm I have no idea. Only difference I could think of is the weather and LMU’s is nicer. If you don’t mind the erratic midwest weather I’d say Creighton. I think Creighton has a better student body and better academic rep. But that’s just me, I might be wrong.

I went to Creighton and earned a full-merit scholarship to a top twenty law school. Good luck with your choice!

Think about this…How often will you want to come home? I know that high school kids sometimes think, “I’m never going to want to come home.” But, if your family has a lot of activities/parties/events that you’ll miss being able to attend, then go to LMU since getting home will be easy.

Also, are you the type to not mind very cold weather? Will you mind keeping track of hats, gloves, scarves, etc? I ask this because my son first wanted to go to school in NYC, and then he realized that he’s a bit of a minimalists…shorts, shirt, flip-flops…and would never be able to keep track of gloves, hats, etc for cold weather.

If you REALLY think you won’t feel the need to come home often or mind the very cold weather, then go to Creighton. :)

Both schools are very nice. I’ve known people who’ve gone to both schools. Both have law schools, so I imagine that both would have liberal arts programs that would well support a pre-law program.

BTW…congrats on your scholarships from them! Keep in mind that although your scholarship from Creighton is a bit more, you’ll have higher travel costs at Creighton.
