So I guess there are no four-year colleges that will admit people with a criminal history? I got a handful of child support arrests and a domestic assault and after a year of junior college and getting good grades, I want to transfer to a four-year college with housing, and now all colleges I want to attend want a crim backgnd check? How am I supposed to fix my life if they wont even let me in? All I did was snatch a phone outta someone's hand and they treat me like I'm OJ Simpson. If I just wasted a year of my life at junior college only to find out I can't transfer, I'm gonna go play in traffic.

I was going to suggest you talk to a transfer counsellor about this, but I realized how stupid that is. Talk to a lawyer. There are attorneys that specialize in criminal record expungement. If your story is how you present it, you can always take it back to court. If you have paid your fine or served your time, you can fight against the criminal record rather than the indictment. If 5 years have passed, and you can prove improvement of character, you have a good shot at clearing your record. For some reason people think minor things they did 10 years ago have to follow them around for life. Failing that, just apply for transfer anyway: most forms have an additional info section where you can tell your side of the story.
