I just had my first week of community college this past week and it wasn't too bad other than it feels just like high school because it's in my home town and I see a decent amount of people that I just graduated with. Not to mention I'm sick of living with my parents. I was just wondering how I could transfer to a four year school after a year of CC with the extremely low high school GPA that I had. I'm not one for excuses, but I believe it to be due to my severe ADD which in turn led to depression because it was undiagnosed. My ACT score was not incredibly high but still shows my intelligence at 29. Is there 4 year schools out there that would consider accepting me based on my ACT score and possibly calling me for an interview to explain the situation that led to my poor GPA?

If you wait until your junior year, your high school grades will not matter at all, and most schools will not require retaking SAT and ACTs.

You need to pay a visit to the Transfer Office at your community college. The counselors there will be able to help you find out more about your options. They can tell you what your chances will be like if you try to transfer after only a year or if you wait to finish your A.A. first.
