Critical Reading Improvement

Would you guys agree that reading Newsweek articles serve as good preparation for the CR section?

nah, just read strictly SAT articles, there are enough practice problems and tests that will satisfy your reading needs

Reading newspapers and good magazines should help.

What particular magazines do you guys suggest?

The ones written with adult-level content (not Playboy), like Time, New York Times, National Geographic, The Atlantic, local newspaper... You could probably find those at your local library. Plus it's good to know more about what's going on in the world.

Except magazines, does reading some books about History help?

Go to Borders and read about anything you like. Just one thing: make sure that the material has prose meant to analysis, that is, hard syntax and diction.

For example, i like to read philosophy and literature:

The Paris Review, Enlightenext, The New York Times, The American Scholar, The Economist.

You can't go wrong with any of those.
