I seem to have a problem raising my Critical Reading score. I regularly get 740-760 in Math, and 740-760 in writing, but have yet to break a 650 in Critical Reading. I feel this is really holding me back from getting the 2200 I want. I have DH Vocab (1 and 2) and I regularly do practice tests, but I seem to have hit a "plateau" or "roadblock" where my CR score won't go any higher. I'm taking the June SAT in two weeks and was wondering if you guys have any tips or resources for me to bump up my CR score a bit.

Also, I have a systematic approach to passage based reading (since that is where almost all my errors occur - my vocabulary is sufficient). I use SilverTurtle's approach and mark specific lines and passages and then answer as I read. Should I try switching things up?

It’s important to remember that every correct answer is correct for a reason, and every incorrect one is incorrect for a reason. It changes from question to question whether it’s better to eliminate wrong answers or find right answers, but knowing that there’s always one that is DEFINITELY right has been helpful for students of mine in the past.

If you’re not having a timing issue, try devoting a little more time to each question, thinking about how you would defend the answer you chose to a teacher. Like, if you had to go over your answers with a tutor after you took the test, what would you say to him when he asked you why you picked (C)? What line would you point to? Doing this on practice tests might help your confidence and accuracy on the real thing.

I usually just have enough time to finish all of the questions, so spending more time on them is not an option. Usually I like to eliminate all the wrong answers first and either guess or find the right one. Thanks for the advice.
