Critical Reading + Writing

Hi there, I was wondering if you could recommend me some books that could help with Critical Reading and Writing? (like grammar stuff, etc)
I currently own both volumes of Direct Hits and I don't think my parents would be too eager to spend 200 bucks on Rocket Review.. So I was wondering if there are any alternatives to Rocket Review and Grammatix?
I'm sorry I'm pretty sure there are tons of other threads like this one already but I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me some more suggestions. Thanks in advance! :)

Take a look at Silverturtle’s SAT Guide , http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/955109-silverturtles-guide-sat-admissions-success.html</a>
It has comprehensive grammar review

why rocket review is so expensive?

Rocket Review is expensive b/c it is not longer being printed.

BARRON’S 2400 is good.

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely be checking those out :)

Trust me, all you will really need is silverturtle’s guide, the BB, and those direct hits books. Perhaps, for a quick overview of concepts, you could get Barrons 2400—it’s not by any means a bad book. Being someone who bought several prep books, I regret wasting my money on so many extra books and feel that these books are the only ones that really any average CC person needs.
