Criticize the SAT

(: don’t sue me collegeboard!

how are you supposed to write a good essay in 25 minutes on 2 pages? I had so many interesting things i couldn’t put down, b/c of the time and the page limit.

how are you supposed to show how well you’re prepared for college by taking a 3 hour test? performance levels go wayyyyyy down near the end, especially if you don’t really care how you do and when you get tired you start guessing at the end.

by writing better than the average population who also took the test!

by caring the whole way through.

If it was a set test, I'd say it was unfair too, but it's not, and its curves change based on how well people did on average. It's basically a test administered everywhere to somewhat more accurately compare your to your peers.

math shouldn't be so heavily weighted! it's usually 5 questions that separates 650-800.

they should remove the writing MC.It is completely useless. That would make the test shorter and less prone to fatigue effects

I'm not so sure how accurate a measurement it is. My daughter got a 710 in math which is pretty easy for her, and a 710 in CR which is very hard for her. I expected a 780 and 620.

Writing section is crap, esp the essay. If they want to assess writing skill that's what the app essay is for..

I think the math/reading is a pretty good metric though

kids can have other people do the app essay though, only you can write your essay on the SAT

A 25 min essay is not a metric of writing skill, regardless of who wrote it. It encourages limitation of creative thought (unless you're incredibly good at writing in such a limited time frame), and formulaic, mechanical writing.

Three words: SAT should BURN!

btw.. You have 3 perfect subject tests narcissa.. I would be surprised if you didnt get 2300+ :p

idk, i mean obviously the SAT essay isn't going to be anyones best piece, but every one writes it under the same circumstances. Besides, most writing you will do in life is formulaic and mechanical (unless you become an author).

The SAT essay is a joke. Nobody should complain about it; it is so easy. I mean, come on. My overall SAT score is an 1840 - I got an 11 on my essay. (Although it may be the fact that my writing skills are far superior to the esoteric skill of filling in little ovals...)

wow, anarchist, i really hope that post was ironic.

What about my post makes it "ironic"?

(I believe the word you are looking for is "sarcastic"; I can't see how the word "ironic" would even fit in my post's context...)
